The conversations we have at the beginning of our dating stages will give us a feel of who we are dealing with. Sure we all enjoy good laughs and good jokes, but there is more to it than just that. When we examine someone, we must first ask ourselves what it is about this person we really want to know. Dating conversations are very important because it is one of the most overlooked aspects of dating.

In order to assure a smooth and enjoyable conversation, it is important that we keep from turning it into an interview. I mean, it’s ok to ask questions, but when a question continues to follow another question, it makes the person wonder if they have to study for the next interaction. Knowing what you want will ensure that the proper topics are discussed and the proper questions are brought up at the proper time.

We all have values we hold that we look to find in someone else. Instead of a question, why not just speak to the person on where we stand and wait to see how they react. The words unspoken are sometimes more powerful than the words exchanged. Does that person show the same excitement towards certain topics? Can that person relate in any way to what you are saying? The answers to these questions are vital because if the things that are important to you aren’t important to that person, then there is no point of moving forward.

How did the last relationship end and what was that person able to take away from that relationship for themselves. Someone that aims to better themselves looks to learn and rise from their past experiences. Is that person you are talking to one of them?

Really take your time to know someone thoroughly. Never prejudge, never assume, and never rush. It really takes time to know someone in order to make the right decision. In any good race, the runner with the most endurance wins, so hang on because it’ll all be worth it in the end.
