Over Thirty Singles Can Find Love

February 12th, 2010

When one is in early 20s, one feels that 30 plus is “old”. But once the landmark age of 30 arrives and the birthday is celebrated and done with, it doesn’t seem to be any different than any other age. That’s what I felt. However, other people seeing us might think differently. The realization occurs when someone who’s well past his or her teenage years calls you aunt or uncle so and so! Then one is compelled to go and take a good hard look into the mirror. Are there any gray hairs showing? Wrinkles? Obesity? Or is it “all in the mind”? Dating for those over 30 singles can be a daunting task or a breath of fresh air, depending on the situation one is in. If you’re 30 plus and have met most of your goals in life, or at least heading towards them, then you are a satisfied and confident individual who doesn’t need to look too hard. However, there might be some drawbacks in dating past your 30s: you are more self-conscious than in your 20s, you are a mature individual and know clearly what you like and dislike, therefore more likely to be picky. If you have had unpleasant dating experiences earlier in life, you most likely have a “don’t mess with me” attitude, which keeps probable dates away. Most importantly, by the time one is past 30, one has commitments like family and finances and the very contemplation of dating is difficult. Here’s where help is at hand in the form of professional matchmakers and experienced dating services. They act as a medium between people, and from experience they’re likely to lead you to a date which has higher chances of being pleasant than a blind date or one that your friends fix. They can take note of what kind of people you like to be with, what your interests are, whether you prefer music to movies or coffee to tea, your favorite cuisine, etc. They can then find someone who shares your tastes in at least some aspects of life. There is nothing to scare anyone away from dating after 30, just as much as after 20 or 40. It is a matter of what you want to do. You want to date, by all means go ahead and date. Going through professionals only increases your chances of not regretting the experience once you’ve taken the step. So, go for it!
